Haven of Light

Hafan o Oleuni

Taking Action against Modern Slavery, Human Trafficking & Exploitation,
Supporting the Vulnerable & the Displaced. Working towards Positive Change.

Haven of Light CIC is a charitable organisation based in North Wales, UK.

Our work continues to develop locally and internationally, based on community development experiences that began in 1990.
We believe in the importance of collaboration and partnership with others, where together we can influence positive change in the lives of men, women, young people and children from all walks of life, communities and countries.   Over the past decade we have focused on the issues of modern slavery and human trafficking, on education and training. We have worked in partnership with statutory, community, faith, academic and third sector agencies on many initiatives locally and overseas highlighting the need for prevention and protection of vulnerable individuals, and continue to do so.

“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should thus act towards one another.”
(Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948).

Our focus

Awareness & Prevention
of Exploitation

By engaging with local communities at a grassroots level, we provide relevant information about the facts of modern slavery and exploitation, and risks.

Prevention is a priority in all the work that we do, as we raise awareness and teach on the issues, and so enable local people to understand the signs to look out for and what action can be taken to report concerns.

Protection is so important.  We do not want to see any man, woman, young person or child caught in situations of exploitation and abuse.

Partnership with statutory agencies, community, third sector and faith groups is greatly valued as we work together on this complex issue to make a difference in bringing about the end of modern slavery in the UK and around the world.

Community Action & Partnerships for Change

There are many opportunities for organisations like Haven of Light to have a positive impact on the lives of men, women and children through informed partnerships to encourage, enable and empower development.

We acknowledge the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and aim to promote and work towards these in collaboration with others.

We value the importance of active involvement in 'transformational initiatives' in society today, and want to see lives changed through good education, employment opportunities, excellent health care, protection from abuse and exploitation.

We want to see the reduction of poverty and to work with others with respect, compassion, kindness and empathy in all projects that we participate in.

Support for the
Displaced & Vulnerable

We are concerned about the health and wellbeing of all people who are at risk, experiencing exploitative situations, or may be displaced from their homes, whether locally or oversea, and need practical support.

Members of our team have worked with those in need since 1990 in  Eastern and South Eastern Europe, and also locally in North Wales, and continue to do so.

At the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine in 2022, we joined in partnership with Link International to develop a support network throughout North Wales to prepare for the arrival of families.

We are always available to collaborate with others to help and support those who need practical help.
